Insurance Fraud

Our investigators investigate insurance fraud that may be committed at different points in the insurance transaction by different parties such as: applicants for insurance, policyholders, third-party claimants and professionals who provide services to claimants.  Some of these frauds include "padding," or inflating actual claims, public adjuster fraud, crimes associated with claim fraud, misrepresenting facts on an insurance application, submitting nonexistent claims for injuries or damage, insurance premium fraud, workers’ compensation claim fraud, workers’ compensation premium avoidance and diversions, "staging" accidents, and  “opportunistic fraud,” a phenomenon that could be related to the economic downturn.  The investigators at Big Bend Associates work closely with insurance companies’ special investigative units and defense attorneys to provide and validate clear and convincing evidence for trial. Developing and employing a successful defense case for contesting a claim is a multi-faceted process that begins with thorough investigative services.

Fire Origin and Cause Investigations

Big Bend Associates provides fire origin and cause investigations and our investigators follow a systematic approach that is based upon scientific methods and generally accepted principles of fire scene investigation. Investigators at Big Bend Associates are experienced in all types of fire investigations, product liability/subrogation investigations, and general fraud investigations.

Corporate/White Collar Investigation

Big Bend Associates provides service in identifying corporate fraud and employee thefts through a variety of investigative techniques.  Our investigators are trained to uncover and trace these thefts through covert surveillance and interviews. We identify and make recommendations to aid in the prevention and detection of theft and fraudulent practices.

Forensics

Big Bend Associates through Leica Geosystems® would like to introduce you to the future of forensics, 3D laser scanning.

The Leica® Scan Station™ enables Big Bend Associates to:

• Accurately scan, photograph and measure scenes up to 300 meters
• Capture and create crime/accident scene data for later examination and re-creation
• Create extremely accurate 2D scene diagrams
• Create visually compelling jury exhibits and 3D “fly-throughs”
• Import point cloud data into third party animation programs

In-Depth Background Investigation

Our investigators conduct in-depth background investigations by identifying the plaintiff(s) in civil/criminal proceedings obtained from court records and other documentation from an individual’s past. As example, if a plaintiff has been extremely litigious and has/or sustained injuries related to another incident, our investigators are able to search court records and obtain certified documents related to previous cases.

Witness Location

Big Bend Associates has access to proprietary databases that help facilitate the location of witnesses or subjects involved in its’ cases. We are skilled at data analysis and are able to quickly and accurately locate individuals.

Investigators at Big Bend Associates are highly skilled at interviewing witnesses and gathering information in both civil and criminal cases. Through years of experience and specialized training, our investigative team will obtain and produce a trial ready comprehensive statement.
